Morgan Sindall has been appointed by the Department of Education (DfE) to deliver the redevelopment of Carleton High School in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Funded by DfE’s School Rebuilding Programme, the contractor will build a new three-storey building, as well as demolishing some parts of the existing school.

Work will also include the refurbishment of the existing sports hall, reconfiguration of external sports areas and the installation of a multi-use games area (MUGA).

The new building will provide modern facilities, including classrooms and science labs, creative technology spaces and high-spec computing suites.

Morgan Sindall Project Manager Nick Theos, said: “As a local business, we understand how much this development is required and the important role it will play for Pontefract. We are excited to get started and engage with the local community to ensure that this school supports them for many generations to come.”

Pontefract Academies Trust Chief Executive Officer Julian Appleyard, said: “This project signifies our dedication to providing an exceptional educational environment for our students. With this state-of-the-art facility, we are laying the foundations for a brighter future, one where excellence in education is paramount.”
