Tekla software scoops education award

trimble161006Trimble’s Tekla Campus structural modelling software scooped an award for education at the RISE Awards 2016, with judges praising Trimble for addressing the skills shortage in the construction sector.

The RISE Awards, hosted by the Leeds Sustainability Institute at Leeds Beckett University, showcase the most pioneering initiatives in construction and engineering across four key strands: research, innovation, sustainability and enterprise.

Winner of the Education and Training category, Tekla Campus is said to help students to build their future career by equipping them with the structural engineering, structural detailing and construction management information and skills needed to create 3D models, with a free software license.

The Judges said they were impressed with how Trimble is supporting students, enabling users to share experience and training through their Tekla Campus project and supporting platforms.

Michael Evans, Director for Education, who is in charge of Tekla Campus, said: “It’s an honour to win the RISE award for Education and Training and even more so around the three- year anniversary of the launch of Tekla Campus.

“We have dedicated a lot of time and effort to help the future construction professionals by providing not only a place for students to download free Tekla software, but also a place to learn and discuss with other like-minded students.

BIM is a big part of the industry globally and students need to be able to meet the needs of employers by having the necessary skills. Tekla Campus is certainly the right way for students to start to build their future.”
