New thermal bridging publication from SCI

The latest publication written and researched by the Steel Construction Institute (SCI) for the steel sector is entitled ‘Thermal Bridging in Light Steel Framing and Modular Construction P411’.

The publication provides an introduction to thermal bridging, an explanation of the consequences of thermal bridging and describes how these effects are considered and quantified in the UK Building Regulations.

Different methods for minimising thermal bridges in light steel and modular construction are described and examples are used to demonstrate the different methods.

The publication includes results from thermal analysis models for common construction details used in light steel framing and modular construction.

Alternative solutions for balcony attachments with minimised thermal bridging are also presented within the publication.
