New recruits at British Steel to support increased production

British Steel, which is maintaining production during the pandemic, is looking to recruit 25 trainees at its Scunthorpe headquarters as well as 41 people for its Skinningrove mill on Teesside.

The permanent positions in Scunthorpe are for manufacturing operators who will initially join the business as trainees. They will then move on to support team leaders within a manufacturing area to ensure plant operational production targets are met to the highest quality, delivering first rate customer service to stringent health and safety standards.

British Steel CEO Ron Deelen said: “Since the launch of our new business in March, Jingye Group has made significant investments in our business and our people, and it continues to do so.

“These roles will enable us to support an increase in production and keep driving this business forward. They’re great opportunities for people to join us and play an important role in the ongoing transformation of British Steel.”

Skinningrove Plant Manager David Hogg said: “We currently operate 24-hours a day, Monday to Friday but we’re moving to a 24-7 operation in the Spring. Our new manufacturing operators will help us achieve this and enable us to meet the growing global demand for our specialist products.”
