Posted on by in Weekly News

The March issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story reports on the temporary jetties that are being installed to aid the construction of HS2’s Colne Valley Viaduct, as it crosses a number of lakes.

NSC reports on three commercial schemes, two in London and one in Belfast. A former textile factory in Whitechapel, which was later used as an art school is undergoing a refurbishment programme that includes adding six floors to the existing structure. This will create a new office block rebranded as The Rowe.

In the central London district of St Giles, a new 10-storey commercial building will offer 21,400m2 office and retail space, alongside 18 apartments. Known as the Earnshaw Building, the project is targeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating.

Highlighting the buoyancy of the commercial sector in Belfast, work is progressing on the 11-storey Paper Exchange, which is the city’s largest-ever speculative office development.

Structural steelwork is playing a leading role in the construction of Sky Studios Elstree. With a total of 13 sound stages, the facility will provide a significant boost to the UK’s film and TV industry.

NSC also features industry news, a Steel for Life gold sponsor article, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
