Lindapter bolts up Central Square

Posted on by in Weekly News

leeds160407Hollo-Bolts from Lindapter have been used to secure structural hollow sections to circular hollow sections to form five 27m-tall bowstring trusses at Central Square, Leeds.

The trusses create a large winter garden that will accommodate restaurants and other leisure facilities.

According to the project team, Lindapter’s countersunk M16 Hollo-Bolts were chosen to secure the beams and splice connections because of their independent product approvals, high clamping force and discrete architectural finish.

The simple installation required access from one side only and did not require drilling or welding, helping the contractors to complete the project on time.

In addition, Lindapter Type MF decking fixings were used for suspending building services throughout the entire 12-storey office building.

More than 1,900t of structural steelwork has been erected by Elland Steel Structures, working on behalf of main contractor Wates Construction, to complete the frame of the Central Square project.

Situated in a prime location, close to Leeds railway station, Central Square is a 20,000m² mixed-use scheme, which will provide Grade A offices as well as retail and leisure facilities.

Offices will be accommodated on the 10 uppermost floors of the development and will have floorplates of 2,300m², which are said to be the largest in the city.

The project is due to be completed within the next few months.
