Kidderminster Town Hall redevelopment gets the green light

Plans to transform the Grade II Listed Kidderminster Town Hall have taken a step forward, as a development contract has been awarded to regional construction firm, Speller Metcalfe.

Work, which is due to start soon, will create a bright new cultural, music and community meeting space that will attract visitors to the town.

Officially opened in January 1855, the building was established as a public hall for all classes and without political agenda. Now, almost 170 years on, the £8.5M development will see a sensitive regeneration of the original site, with the aim of maintaining all of the original features.

Councillor David Ross, Leader of Kidderminster Town Council, said: “We are pleased to be working with Speller Metcalfe and our partners to deliver a town hall that our residents can be proud of, and we’re looking forward to the return of a much-loved heritage venue for arts, entertainment and community gatherings.”

The project is due to complete in early 2025.
