January issue of New Steel Construction out now

The January issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC can find it at www.newsteelconstruction.com

The first issue of 2024 has a cover story featuring the Boord Street Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge, which spans the southern approach road to London’s Blackwall Tunnel. Painted a distinctive yellow, the replacement steel bridge has a 57m-long main span and is formed by a pair of Warren Trusses.

A fully galvanised steel frame has created the desired architectural and durable design for a multi-storey car park on the outskirts of Cheltenham. The four-level structure will almost double the available parking spaces at the Arle Court Transport Hub.

A series of long span steel trusses have formed the manufacturing space for Guala Closures new factory in Scotland. Making a significant contribution to the local economy, the company produces bottle pouring mechanisms for whisky distillers.

Sustainability and the circular economy are taking centre stage at the 12-storey Edenica office development in the City of London. The scheme is the first in the capital to use Materials Passports, which are digital data sets of used materials and components that allow products to be reused in the future.

A seven-storey steel-framed mixed use development, known as Lucent, has reinvigorated an underused plot directly behind the iconic Piccadilly Lights. The project includes Grade A office space, apartments and a rooftop restaurant.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
