Director of Engineering vacancy at BCSA

The position of Director of Engineering has become available at the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) and candidates who have passion for the design and fabrication of constructional steelwork are being sought.

The BCSA is the national organisation for the steel construction industry whose member companies undertake the design, fabrication and erection of steelwork for all forms of buildings and civil engineering.

The Director of Engineering is a senior position within the BCSA, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the technical direction of the association, participate in the development of the steel design and fabrication standards, managing a number of BCSA’s committees, developing practical design and fabrication guides and advising member companies on the design and fabrication of steel structures.

All candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a chartered structural engineer. They should have at least 10 years’ experience in the design and execution of steel structures and be familiar with national and international standards development.

The BCSA is seeking someone who is self-motivated and has good communication and written skills. The Director of Engineering predominately works from BCSA’s London office, but is also required to travel throughout the UK, and Europe with some nights away.
