The April issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is the new Isle of Man Ferry Terminal in Liverpool. The use of steelwork has provided the scheme with a number of benefits, including the creation of feature funnel-like rooflights that adorn the top of the Mersey riverside structure.

NSC reports from 22 Ropemaker Street, a landmark commercial scheme in the City of London. The project has used a bespoke stability balancing act, whereby the building’s cores are working in conjunction with four full-height Vierendeel ladder frames.

New steel-framed structures and renovated existing buildings form the Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk. One of its buildings has a sawtooth roof that features demountable elements to allow large copper stills to be removed and replaced in the production area.

Described as a facility of the future, the Sherbourne Resource Centre in Coventry will, on completion, offer a sustainable solution for recyclable household waste. The centre will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the core of its production system.

Structural steelwork has provided the necessary long clear column-free spaces for a Maintenance Repair Overhaul hangar at Norwich Airport. A series of trusses form two equal spans of 45.5m-wide.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
