NSC160421The April issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital, and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not already receive the print magazine and would like to subscribe should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s issue features the Republic of Ireland’s largest waste to energy scheme, which is being constructed in Dublin. The project team say they have pushed the boundaries of structural steel design, detailing and erection on this job.

Known as the Bond Street development, a new retail and leisure scheme is set to invigorate Chelmsford city centre when it opens later this year. Anchoring the scheme is the first John Lewis department store in Essex.

The latest commercial office block to take shape in the City of London is the 19-storey Creechurch Place. The first floor along the main elevation is set-back and hung from the floor above via CHS sections, creating a column-free entrance area. This important design feature would not have been possible in any other material than steel.

A treetop walkway will open later this month at the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, Gloucestershire. Rising to a height of 30m, the steel and timber structure will allow visitors to walk through the forest canopy.

A project that is making full use of steel construction’s flexibility is Silsoe Lower School in Bedfordshire, where a series of steel trees will adorn the main entrance and atrium.

NSC also features a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, industry news, and codes and standards updates.
